We got back from the wedding in Texas and the truck is now packed and ready to go to Kutztown for the next 2 weeks.  We had a great time at the wedding and got in some sight seeing on the way.  The Palo Duro Canyon:

and then a Native American museum.  Two displays in particular were incredibly colorful

The first is a shawl and the second a type of painting

Of course I can see this made into a quilt.  

 

On our way home we stopped by Wright Patterson Air Force Museum and of course I found the one plane with a quilt design nose

The tail was decorated as well.   

Now it is off to the festival for a week of waffles and ice cream or maybe strawberry shortcake.  But then there is also a mud ............

Today was supposed to be a day of mowing grass so there would be time to get ready for our 'Quilter's Day Out'.  The rain put a stop to that!  It wasn't all bad though as there is now a new 'broom skirt' made from that box of ties I found while unpacking the moving van.  I must say the dog is quite put out since he didn't get to go swimming this morning.

 

Just open the ties and stitch along the fold lines.  The hem is already fininshed.   I used another tie for an elastic waistband.   Some of the narrow ends are included in the skirt, others are waiting to be the ties for a 'raggedy bear', and still more are back in the box for the next project--whatever that may be............

All those plans I made to mow the grass today were washed away with the rain.  Gives us time to catch up on some other things on 'my list of things...'

A friend sent me this picture the other day and I am sure it also describes your year.  You know the long list of things you mean to accomplish just after Christmas that gets revised after Valentines day until before Christmas again we are just trying to finish something!

In a month we will be half through the Kutztown Folk Festival, hopefully it will be cooler than last year.  Keeping it under 95 would be nice with humidity less than 150%!  No matter the weather it is a great festival with super food.  We are right behind the waffles and ice cream and ...
