Christmas in August

August 11, 2008

As I sit here before my computer wearing a sweatshirt and
freezing I wonder what happened to Summer?

I guess the weather is just getting us in the mood to work
on some projects for the holidays. We just received some
stamped pieces to make a special Christmas quilt.

When I made our Christmas wall hanging from a stamped piece
I used some metallic threads to accent the packages, holly
leaves and candle lights(one strand of metallic and two of
color floss). I also embroidered with a modified satin
stitch to fill in some of the white areas and make it more
colorful. The sunbonnet girls would like really nice
finished like that.

The beginning of the month we were in Pittsburgh for a
quilt show--I was reminded how great the residents of
western PA are. When the nail that I ran over did a number
on my tire, they all went out of their way to be sure I
would make it home. The guild members and their husbands
were just super and it was a really nice show.

In just a few weeks we will be in Harrisburg for the
Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, stop by to say
hi.

The sun seems to be trying to peak out so maybe I can
finally warm up!

Enjoy the remainder of your summer,

Marilyn
