On to Quilt Odyssey in Hershey

Jul 17, 2014

It has been almost two weeks since the Kutztown festival and it has taken us that long to recuperate!! Must be getting older.

Check out our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wilsons-Calico-Corner/228777461016?ref=hl for pictures of the new fabric we have received. And check out our Blog: http://www.wilsonscalico.com/mad-quilter-ramblings.html for a couple of pictures from the Kutztown Folk Festival.

The quilt show at Hershey is in the Hershey Lodge and always has a great selection of new quilts as well as a nice display of antique quilts. Stop by and say Hi!

One of the treats from 'festivals past' was Potato Candy Pinwheels. I don't know if the nutritional value of the potatoes is over taken by the powered sugar but it was a great treat.

Potato Candy Pinwheels

1 medium potato boiled and mashed
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Crunchy Peanut butter

Add powdered sugar and vanilla to mashed potato in small amounts until mixture is the consistency of cookie batter that can be easily rolled.

Roll out to approximately 1/4" thick. Spread evenly with peanut butter and carefully roll up, jelly roll style. Chill 5 hours or overnight. Slice into 1/4 or 1/2 inch pieces. Serve chilled.

Another recipe calls for 1/4 pound of chocolate instead of the peanut butter. This recipe combines sugar and mashed potatoes which are put into a buttered pan. The chocolate is melted and poured over the mixture which is then chilled for 2 hours.

I bet a combination of these two would be good!
Enjoy and have a great rest of the summer!
